The reinforced version of our portable cold plunge. The Barrel Pro is built from drop-stitch DWF with a 5 cm insulated wall, so the tub holds its shape without a frame and keeps water cold for longer. At 90 cm wide and 80 cm deep it sits deeper than the Round Basic, which means full shoulder submersion even if you are tall, and more water volume so the temperature stays stable through a longer session. Cold water triggers a sharp rise in norepinephrine, which is why a two-minute plunge leaves you alert for hours, and many athletes use it to take the edge off sore muscles after training. It inflates in minutes with the included hand pump, comes with an inflatable lid to keep the cold in between sessions, and packs into the included backpack when you are done. What is the difference between the Barrel Pro and the Round Basic?

The Basic is the entry point: a framed round tub that folds away and does everything you need to start cold exposure. The Barrel Pro is the reinforced version. It uses drop-stitch DWF with a 5 cm insulated wall, so it holds its own shape without a frame, feels far more rigid when you lean against it, and sits deeper at 80 cm. More water volume also means the temperature stays stable through a longer session.

Will the water warm up too fast?

That is the usual complaint about cheap ice baths. Thin single-wall tubs go lukewarm within the hour, so you keep topping up ice. The Barrel Pro has a 5 cm insulated wall and comes with an inflatable lid, which together hold the cold far longer between sessions. Want a fixed temperature all year? You can connect a chiller.

How long does it take to set up?

A few minutes. Unfold it, inflate the walls with the included hand pump and fill it. There is no frame to assemble and no power needed. When you are done, drain it, deflate it and pack it into the included backpack.

I am tall. Will I actually fit?

This is the main reason people move up from the Basic. At 90 cm across and 80 cm deep you sit fully submerged with your shoulders under water instead of your knees sticking out. Sitting cross-legged is comfortable rather than a squeeze.

Can I leave it outside?

Yes. The DWF and PVC tarpaulin construction is built for outdoor use, and the inflatable lid keeps leaves and dust out between sessions. If it stays out permanently, a protective cover extends its life against rain and UV.

How cold should the water be, and how long should I stay in?

Most people work towards 4 to 10°C and stay in for two to three minutes. Start warmer and shorter than you think you need to. Consistency beats intensity: a short plunge every day does more than one heroic session a week. If you have a heart condition or are pregnant, check with your doctor first.

How do I keep the water clean?

Rinse off before you get in, keep the lid on between sessions, and drain through the valve every one to two weeks depending on how often you use it. Cold water slows bacterial growth considerably, so it stays fresh far longer than a warm bath would.
